Terms of Service

This is not medical advice

Family Vault for Health is a record-keeping and research tool. It is not a healthcare provider, not a medical practice, and not a substitute for professional medical care. Nothing the service produces is medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and no doctor-patient relationship is created by using it.

Consult a licensed physician or other qualified health professional before making any decision about medication, treatment, testing, or care. Do not start, stop, or change anything based on what you read here.

If someone needs immediate medical attention, call 911 or your local emergency number, or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not use this service to seek help in an emergency.

1. Agreement to these terms

By subscribing to or using Family Vault for Health, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement.

2. What the service does

The service reads documents you upload, structures the information in them, records what you tell it, and maintains knowledge pages for reference. It is deployed for your family on its own machine: a virtual private server we provision, or a physical computer you keep. You are responsible for what you upload and for who you invite.

3. Not a healthcare provider

We do not practice medicine, nursing, pharmacy, or any other licensed profession. We are not a covered entity or a clinical service, and the service is not a medical device. Information the service produces may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, including information drawn from your own uploaded documents. Published medical evidence conflicts and changes, and the service can surface findings that are later superseded. Verify anything that matters with your clinician.

4. Your responsibility for decisions

Every decision about health, medication, and care remains yours and your clinician's. You agree not to rely on the service for diagnosis, for dosing, for interpreting results, or for deciding whether to seek care. If you are unsure whether a symptom is serious, treat it as serious and contact a medical professional or emergency services.

5. Emergencies

The service does not monitor your account, does not detect emergencies, and does not alert anyone on your behalf. It cannot summon help. In any situation involving chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, loss of consciousness, thoughts of self-harm, or any other urgent condition, call 911 or your local emergency number immediately.

6. Your data and your family

Records and knowledge pages live on your family's machine. You decide who is invited and what they can see. When you add another person's health information, you confirm you have the right to do so, and that you have their consent where consent is required. Anyone you invite can see the records shared with them, so invite carefully.

7. Subscription, free month, and cancellation

The subscription is $49 per month and covers your household. The first month is free. Payment is processed by our payment provider, not by us. You may cancel at any time, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Fees already paid are not refunded except where the law requires it.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use the service to provide clinical care to other people, to resell access, to store information you have no right to hold, or to break any law. We may suspend an account that does.

9. No warranty

The service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that the service will identify anything important in your records.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any harm arising from health decisions made in reliance on the service. Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will tell subscribers before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
